Noah Hawley on the Possibility of a ‘Predator’ Crossover with ‘Alien: Earth’
Fans of Alien: Earth have been speculating about a possible connection to the Predator universe as the FX and Hulu series prepares for its second season.
Showrunner Noah Hawley recently addressed the idea during an interview on the SmartLess podcast, making it clear that a crossover isn’t currently planned.
“No, not onto the show, I don’t think,” Hawley said when asked about the possibility. He praised Dan Trachtenberg, who directed Prey and worked on Predator: Badlands.
“I mean, I think Dan Trachtenberg… I loved ‘Prey.’ I think he’s doing a great job with that franchise. He clearly has a plan there. You know, I’ve met Dan once. We are not kind of coordinating any of that stuff, so it’s not really my plan to do it.”
While a Predator crossover isn’t on the cards, Hawley shared insights about where Season 2 is heading. He said the story will explore the consequences of Wendy’s actions after the first season finale.
“That moment of, ‘Now we rule,’ is such an exhilarating moment for the audience. And then the question is… well, it was an exhilarating moment when Dustin Hoffman ran out of the church and they got on the bus [in The Graduate]. But what comes after?” he told Empire. “The [Weyland-Yutani] ships are coming, and all they have is problems.”
Hawley also plans to dive deeper into the world of future Earth, exploring corporate politics and how major companies have become powerful like governments. “There’s a bit of ‘Game of Thrones’ to the corporate world that feels interesting to me,” he said. At the center of the series, though, is Wendy and her team, whose fight for survival remains the core of the story.
Set in 2120, two years before the original 1979 Alien film, the series features five corporations, Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic, and Threshold, controlling much of the world. When a mysterious space vessel crashes on Earth, Wendy and a team of tactical soldiers discover dangerous life forms that threaten the planet. The crew must survive and decide how to handle the new threat, which could change life on Earth forever.
The series stars Sydney Chandler, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Essie Davis, Adarsh Gourav, Kit Young, Timothy Olyphant, Sandra Yi Sencindiver, David Rysdahl, Babou Ceesay, Jonathan Ajayi, and several others.
While a Predator crossover may not be happening now, Hawley’s focus on expanding the Alien universe promises plenty of action and intrigue for Season 2.
