‘Off Campus’ Star Belmont Cameli Went Full Denim at the Vmas, and Fans Are Swooning All Over Again
Few young actors have had a year quite like Belmont Cameli, and his VMAs appearance felt like a victory lap for Hollywood’s newest It-boy. Before landing his breakout role, Cameli had already built a following through projects like Netflix’s ‘Along for the Ride’ and his first studio film, ‘Until Dawn’, where he played Abe. But nothing prepared him for the fame that came with his latest series.
That series, of course, is Prime Video’s hit hockey romance ‘Off Campus’, based on Elle Kennedy’s book series. Its first season dove into the fake-dating trope, following music student Hannah Wells, played by Ella Bright, and her love interest Garrett Graham, played by Cameli. The actor has admitted to The Hollywood Reporter that he’s still getting used to the new side of fame, like paparazzi and being recognized in public.
That spotlight was impossible to avoid on Sunday night at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles. Deadline shared a clip on X of the ‘Off Campus’ star arriving at the 42nd MTV VMAs, and the video quickly made the rounds.
In the footage, Cameli poses in a washed denim button-up shirt tucked into loose, dark-wash jeans, with his hands casually in his pockets and his dark hair styled in loose waves. The Hollywood Reporter summed it up as a cool denim look, a laid-back counterpoint to the more dramatic fashion moments elsewhere on the carpet.
He also added a subtle accessory for part of the night. Cosmopolitan reported that he wore a pair of square rimless glasses, matching the sunglasses energy of his co-star. Cameli wasn’t flying solo for long. Bright, who had already walked the carpet earlier in the night, came back to join him after he arrived later, and the pair posed together in two very different looks.

The duo’s biggest moment came during the telecast itself. Cameli and Bright introduced rising pop singer Sienna Spiro’s performance, and the crowd went so wild that Bright had to briefly pause. Spiro went on to win Best New Artist after fans voted throughout the broadcast.
Cameli’s inclusion in the lineup had been announced just days earlier, when The Hollywood Reporter exclusively revealed that he was joining Teyana Taylor and Charli xcx as a presenter. The outlet described him as an ‘Off Campus’ sensation, a fair label given how quickly the series has taken off.

The VMAs appearance came right after a busy summer on set. Cameli and Bright spent the season filming Season 2 of ‘Off Campus’, which has reportedly wrapped production. The upcoming chapter centers on the romance between Alli, played by Mika Abdalla, and Dean, played by Stephen Kalyn.

His film career is heating up too. Cameli was recently reported to be joining Sydney Sweeney in ‘Hollow’, an upcoming supernatural thriller from Sony, and he’s also been cast as Brom Bones in an upcoming film.
Between a hit streaming series, big-screen projects lining up, and a presenting gig at one of music’s biggest nights, Cameli’s momentum shows no sign of slowing. His understated double-denim look may have been simple, but it perfectly suited an actor whose charm doesn’t need much help.
