The official premise for Frozen 3 has reportedly been revealed, the next chapter in the popular animated franchise.

The announcement comes after Disney CEO Bob Iger confirmed in February 2023 that the series would continue. Originally, Frozen 3 was set to hit theaters on November 25, 2026, but Disney Animation announced at the 2024 D23 Expo that the release date has been moved to November 24, 2027.

According to the description shared online, “In this new chapter, witness the wedding of the century in Arendelle as Queen Anna walks down the aisle and joins Elsa on a new magical journey filled with unknown challenges. And what’s even more exciting: the royal family is about to welcome a mysterious new member!”

The source of the premise comes from @almanaquediseny, who used the AI service Grok to translate the announcement. It’s worth noting that AI translations can sometimes be inaccurate, so fans should take the details with a grain of salt.

The story seems to naturally continue from the events of Frozen II, where Kristoff proposed to Anna. A wedding at the center of the film makes sense, following the adventurous pattern of the first two movies.

The intriguing part is the mention of a mysterious new family member. This does not seem to suggest a pregnancy for Anna or a magical creation by Elsa. Instead, it hints at a long-lost relative who could shake up the royal family dynamics.

The idea of long-lost family members isn’t new for the franchise. The ABC series Once Upon a Time previously explored Anna and Elsa’s aunt as the original Snow Queen, though that story isn’t canon to Disney’s films.

Some fans have even speculated wildly about connections to other Disney characters, like Tarzan, but the timelines of those stories make that impossible. The new family member could appear on either the father’s human side or the mother’s magical side, potentially bringing fresh twists to the story.

Frozen 3 is still a couple of years away, and many details may change. Olaf voice actor Josh Gad has confirmed that recording for the film hasn’t even started yet, meaning the story isn’t finalized. Both Frozen and Frozen II saw major changes during production, so fans can expect the same could happen for the third movie.

Overall, Frozen 3 promises a mix of adventure, magic, and family surprises. Anna and Elsa’s journey continues, and the addition of a mysterious family member could add an exciting new layer to the beloved franchise. What do you think this new character might be?
