Arrowverse is expanding! The CW and DC’s superhero universe started with Arrow in 2012, and it started expanding in 2014 with The Flash. Since then, six more shows joined the universe; Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lightning, Batwoman, Stargirl, and Superman & Lois. Arrow finished in 2020, Supergirl and Black Lightning finished this year, but all the other shows are still airing and they have a solid fanbase.

Yesterday it was reported that The CW is developing a new series based on Gotham Knights. But, that series is in early development, and there is one other series that is set to be released next month – Naomi. Naomi is one of the newer DC characters, introduced in comic books in 2019, and she’s already getting her live-action incarnation.

Kaci Walfall is starring as Naomi. In comic books, Naomi was born in one of DC’s alternate universes. Her parents sent her to the main universe for her safety after evil metahuman Zumbado tried to kill her. As for the TV series, you can check the official synopsis and a trailer below:

“Naomi, a cool, confident, comic book-loving teenager pursues her hidden destiny. When a supernatural event shakes her small hometown of Port Oswego, Naomi sets out to uncover its origins, with a little help from her fiercely loyal best friend Annabelle. She also has the support of her adoptive, doting parents, veteran military officer Greg and linguist Jennifer. After an encounter with Zumbado, the mysterious owner of a used car lot, leaves her shaken, Naomi turns to tattoo shop owner Dee, who becomes her reluctant mentor. While unraveling the mystery of herself, Naomi also navigates her high school friendships with both military kids and local townies, including ex-boyfriend and high school jock Nathan; Annabelle’s longtime, loyal boyfriend Jacob; proud “townie” Anthony; and fellow comic book enthusiast Lourdes. As Naomi journeys to the heights of the multiverse in search of answers, what she discovers challenges her beliefs about heroes.” — Naomi, official synopsis

Created by Ava DuVernay (who was set to develop DC project New Gods before it was canceled), and starring Kaci Walfall, Mary-Charles Jones, Cranston Johnson, Alexander Wraith, Daniel Puig, and Aidan Gemme, Naomi will debut on January 11, 2022 on The CW.
