Welcome to the Ending Explained for Oh Belinda, a new Turkish film coming to Netflix this weekend. The film is a mixture of both comedy and dramedy as we meet Dilara, a frustrated actress who suddenly sees herself traveling to the world of one of her characters. This will teach her important lessons about her own life. Dilara is our main character, and without a doubt, she is the best thing about the movie. The character feels quite three-dimensional and has the chance to go through the entire spectrum of emotions in one movie.

However, while the movie is quite entertaining, it is not perfect. When it comes to writing, many elements feel poorly thought out. There are a series of plot points that are introduced, and it looks like they are very important, but as the movie comes to a close and none of them get resolved, then you realize that all of them were a waste of time. While good, the rest of the cast also can’t hold a candle to the main performance. The movie ends up being a nice casual watch for when you are in the mood for something light.

Why Does Dilara Travel To Another World?

Just like in the same fashion as in The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Oh Belinda takes the premise of an Isekai story and runs with it. In this type of story, a person of one world crosses into another, and they get stuck there. The conflict of the premises surges from the struggle to adapt to the new environment, which is often completely different from the one where the person comes from. It is quite a terrifying situation, and our main character, Dilara, will live it firsthand.

Dilara is introduced in the movie’s first minutes as a superstar. She is an actress, and one of the main attractions of the play she has with all her friends. She is also an award-winning actress, and she is also quite attractive. She has it all. However, recently it seems there has been a decline in demand for her, and she suddenly can only book commercials. She feels bad about it, but she takes one of the commercials because the payment is quite good. The commercial is for a shampoo brand called Belinda.

Dilara goes to the shooting location, and she has to play a mother who uses shampoo at night to relax while taking a bath. It is all standard, but she is paired with an annoying actor like her husband. While shooting a scene where she uses the shampoo in the shower, Dilara feels uncomfortable with others watching her. The director keeps giving her notes and telling her that she should be Dilara. She needs to become Handan, the woman from the script.

Dilara focuses all her mind on becoming this other woman who is the complete opposite of her. Suddenly, while washing her air, she is transported to the character’s world. From that moment on, Dilara stops being herself and becomes Handan: mother and wife. At first, she thinks it is all a joke. She finds that the actor who was shooting the commercial with her is now her husband and the child actors are now her real children. Dilara freaks out and goes out into the night, searching for her friends.

Does Dilara Go Back To Her World?

Dilara visits all her usual places, but what she finds is pure horror. She goes to meet her boyfriend, a colleague actor named Serkan. However, he is in bed with another woman and acts like he doesn’t know her at all. She visits her friends in a bar, and the same thing happens. It is as if everyone has forgotten her completely. She even goes to her own apartment to find another person living there. This is not her world, Dilara is dead, she is no more, and Handan is alive.

She goes back to her house in this world, and her husband doesn’t understand what is happening or why Dilara is so hostile. She sends him to the couch and sleeps alone in bed. The next morning, she is equally lost about what to do regarding her situation. She receives a phone call that informs her that she works in a bank. She goes to work, but she is quite frustrated as no one recognizes her. She is supposed to be quite a famous person. How can this happen to her?

Dilara discovers that she has been having an affair with her boss, who is the husband of her husband’s sister. It is quite a mess. Dilara has a mental breakdown during dinner, and she is taken to a hospital. There, she explains her situation. Of course, the doctors diagnosed her with several mental issues, and she is kept at the hospital. One day, another of the patients informs her that she needs to play the part if she wants to get out, she does, and the doctors let her go. She then focuses on restarting her career as an actress.
