The stars of I Want Your Sex have officially landed at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, bringing a provocative new energy to Park City. Olivia Wilde leads the cast of this e**** thriller, attending the premiere at the Eccles Center Theater alongside co-stars Cooper Hoffman, Mason Gooding, and Chase Sui Wonders on Friday, January 23.

Wilde, who plays artist Erika Tracy, made a bold fashion statement on the red carpet by wearing a sleek, punk-inspired leather ensemble. She was joined by Cooper Hoffman, who portrays the “fresh-faced” Elliot. Although they play key roles in the movie, Charli XCX and Daveed Diggs were notably absent from the premiere event.

Gregg Araki directed, co-wrote, and produced the film, which marks his triumphant return to the director’s chair after more than a decade. The story centers on Elliot, a young college graduate who takes an internship with Erika Tracy, an art world provocateur.

When fresh-faced Elliot lands a job with artist and provocateur Erika Tracy, his fantasies come true as she taps him to become her s***** muse, the official Sundance synopsis reads. But Elliot finds himself out of his depth as Erika takes him on a journey into a world of s**, obsession, power, betrayal, and murder.

Early reviews from the festival have praised the “lightning in a bottle” chemistry between Wilde and Hoffman. Critics noted that the film is a “sharp, s**-forward reflection on the modern state of kink, power, and s***** autonomy,” shifting gender dynamics to create a unique subversion of the genre.

Olivia Wilde has been incredibly busy at Sundance this year, as she is actually pulling double duty with two major premieres. In addition to starring in I Want Your Sex, she is also making her directorial return with the comedy The Invite.

That film features a stacked cast including Penélope Cruz, Seth Rogen, and Edward Norton, though Cruz was unable to attend the festival due to a filming conflict in Spain.

The 2026 Sundance lineup has been one of the most star-studded in years, featuring new works from Channing Tatum, Natalie Portman, and Ethan Hawke. For many, Gregg Araki’s latest is a standout for its “ridiculous romp” energy and campy, heightened style. The film is currently seeking a distribution deal, with several major studios reportedly eyeing the buzzy project.

Mason Gooding and Chase Sui Wonders also received praise for their supporting roles, with Wonders involved in one of the film’s most talked-about “threesome” sequences. Despite some mixed feelings from critics on the plot’s convolution, the consensus is that Wilde and Hoffman are “fantastic together,” giving the film a horny, vibrant pulse.

What do you think of Olivia Wilde and Cooper Hoffman’s bold new age-gap thriller, and are you glad to see the return of the e**** thriller genre at Sundance? Share your thoughts in the comments.
