One More MCU Star Just Confirmed ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Return
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is one of Marvel’s biggest upcoming projects and will be a massive crossover event bringing together heroes from the Avengers, Fantastic Four, Wakanda, the X-Men, and more.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo and written by Michael Waldron and Stephen McFeely. It’s set to release in the US on December 18, 2026, with a follow-up, Secret Wars, planned for the following year.
The upcoming movie has an impressive lineup of actors playing iconic characters. Robert Downey Jr. takes on the role of Victor von Doom, also known as Doctor Doom, switching from hero to villain. Pedro Pascal and Vanessa Kirby star as Reed Richards (Mister Fantastic) and Sue Storm (Invisible Woman) of the Fantastic Four. Chris Hemsworth returns as Thor, while Anthony Mackie plays Sam Wilson, the new Captain America, and Sebastian Stan is back as Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier.
Paul Rudd reprises his role as Scott Lang, or Ant-Man, and Florence Pugh plays Yelena Belova, a skilled fighter from Black Widow. Letitia Wright appears as Shuri, the new Black Panther, with Tom Hiddleston returning as Loki. Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen portray Professor X and Magneto, respectively, while Alan Cumming plays Nightcrawler, Rebecca Romijn is Mystique, and Kelsey Grammer plays Beast. Channing Tatum joins the cast as Gambit.
Now, you can add one more name to the list: Xochitl Gomez, who recently confirmed to ET Online that she does have a role in the upcoming blockbuster. Gomez confirmed that she has to be very tight-lipped when it comes to the project.
Gomez was also asked what she is most excited about regarding America Chavez and what she hopes to bring to fans:
“I’m excited to see her future. I think most importantly—actually, what do you guys want to see?” Gomez asked, turning to the camera and pointing toward the fans. “What are YOU hoping for America’s future? I would love to see that, and hopefully we can cook up something based on what y’all put out there. Manifest it. There’s your task. Manifest America’s future.”
When the interviewer asked Gomez to pick three words that America embodies in the upcoming installment, she said: “Bravery. Courage. And let’s say… just powerful.”
She was also asked who she is most excited to work with and share a scene with. “Not to say anything for sure, this is just vibes, but I worked with her once and I would love to work with her again. She was a dream—I would love to work with Elizabeth Olsen again.”
Finally, Gomez was asked whether she had a chance to bond with Olsen while filming Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness:
“No, I just let her do her craft and soaked it in. And that’s exactly what I did. I think the best piece of advice she gave me was: if there’s an idea or something on your mind, just say it. Put it out there. You never know. And to this day, I still do that.”
