The One Piece anime is set to take another break, starting at the end of September, leaving fans waiting for the next episode. Episode 1146, originally expected on October 5, will now air on October 12.

The September 28 episode, however, will still release as scheduled.

This pause is part of a pattern for the series. After a six-month hiatus from late 2024 to early 2025, the anime has started taking roughly one break each month. During these breaks, either no new episode airs or a recap episode hosted by Chopper is shown.

Many fans are curious about the reason behind these frequent pauses. There has been no official explanation, but speculation suggests a few possibilities.

The breaks might give animators extra time to work on the upgraded animation. Another reason could be to allow creator Eiichiro Oda to stay ahead of the anime, which has become more challenging as the story progresses.

On the manga side, One Piece Chapter 1159 is set to release this week. In Japan, it drops at 12 AM JST on Monday, September 8, while international readers can access it starting August 31. Fans can read the chapter for free on Manga Plus.

While the breaks can be frustrating, they are likely needed to maintain the quality of the anime and keep the manga ahead. Waiting a little longer may be worth it for a better viewing experience. What do you think about these frequent One Piece breaks? Share your thoughts in the comments.
