It’s been only two years since Christopher Nolan released his latest film — Tenet. Tenet received positive reviews from the critics, but many agreed that the movie isn’t Nolan’s top peak as Inception and Interstellar were. Shortly after the release of Tenet, Nolan severed his ties with Warner Bros., which distributed all of his previous movies, due to the company’s decision to release new movies on the streaming service during the pandemic era. Nolan, who wants this audience to experience movies exclusively on the big screen, decided to make his next movie for Universal Pictures.
Christopher Nolan’s next movie is Oppenheimer, a biopic about the American theoretical physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was a leading scientist in Manhattan Project, which created the first nuclear weapons during World War 2. The movie will follow the life of Oppenheimer, showing us how was he the lead man in creating the atom bomb, but after he realized what he actually created, he opposed the creation of the hydrogen bomb, an even deadlier weapon, and wanted to put nuclear weapons under control during the Cold War.
The movie is starring Cillian Murphy in the titular role, and the additional cast includes Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Jack Quaid, Matt Damon, Josh Peck, Rami Malek, Benny Safdie, Alden Ehrenreich, and Kenneth Branagh.
Written and directed by Christopher Nolan, and distributed by Universal Pictures, Oppenheimer will land exclusively in theaters on July 21, 2023.
