Oscar Isaac is not too eager to work with Disney again, at least not right now. In a new interview with GQ magazine, the actor was asked if he would ever consider returning to the Star Wars franchise, and his answer came with a sharp comment about the company.

“Yeah. I mean, I’d be open to it, although right now I’m not so open to working with Disney,” Isaac said. “But if they can kinda figure it out and, you know, not succumb to fascism, that would be great… if that happens, then yeah, I’d be open to having a conversation about a galaxy far away. Or any number of other things.”

According to GQ, the interview took place just two days after Disney and ABC suspended production on Jimmy Kimmel Live! following Kimmel’s remarks about the death of conservative figure Charlie Kirk. The show resumed filming four days later.

Isaac’s recent remarks are not the first time he’s shared mixed feelings about returning to Star Wars. Back in 2020, during a Deadline panel not long after the release of The Rise of Skywalker, he said the blockbuster franchise was “not really what I set out to do” as an actor. He explained that his real passion was for “handmade movies” and working with “people that inspire me.”

At the time, he also joked about the possibility of returning, saying he would “probably not” do another Star Wars film — “who knows. [Maybe] if I need another house or something.”

Now, looking back on those comments, Isaac admitted to GQ that he might have been too blunt. “Yeah. That was a real likable quote. Jesus Christ. Y’know, people ask you things, you say stuff, you don’t really think about it that much. I said a slightly dic**** thing.”

While Isaac didn’t go into detail about what he meant by Disney “succumbing to fascism,” his remarks come during a time when the company has faced public criticism and political pressure from both sides. For now, it seems Isaac is keeping his distance, unless things change at the studio.
