Drama seems to be following the Outer Banks crew even off-screen. According to TMZ, things got heated on set while filming in Dubrovnik, Croatia.

The report claims that Jonas Pate, the cocreator of the hit Netflix show, allegedly grabbed a production assistant and shook her while yelling in her face.

Witnesses say that actor Chase Stokes quickly stepped in to break it up, and his costar Madelyn Cline also jumped in to calm things down. The moment was tense, but filming reportedly continued afterward.

Sources told TMZ that the set had already been stressful, and some even said Pate’s outburst wasn’t unusual for him. Netflix hasn’t made any public comment about the situation yet.

Jonas Pate is known not only for Outer Banks but also for his new Prime Video series The Runarounds, which stars his daughter, Lilah Pate. The show follows a band trying to make it big after finishing high school and was filmed in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Lilah has spoken before about how special it is to work with her dad. In an interview with People, she said, “Growing up on a film set, I was always drawn to it. I never wanted to leave. I was very much [my dad’s] mini me, his sidekick, always begging to be on set, always begging to be in the room when people auditioned.”

She added, “I continued to show him and learn from him and shadow him consistently. And then over time, after I had booked a few roles on my own, he saw that this is really what I wanted to do with my life.”

Outer Banks first premiered in 2020 and quickly became a Netflix favorite. The story follows two groups of teens, the rich Kooks and the working-class Pogues, as they clash over treasure and loyalty in a coastal North Carolina town. In late 2024, Netflix confirmed that the series would end after season five, wrapping up the storylines of John B, Sarah, and the rest of the Pogues.

Now, as fans wait for the final season, the real-life drama behind the cameras is drawing just as much attention as the show itself.
