‘Outer Banks’ Star Madelyn Cline Glows in Fresh-Faced Car Selfies as Her Post-’Outer Banks’ Era Takes Off
Madelyn Cline has spent the past 6 years as one of Netflix’s most recognizable faces. Since 2020, she has starred as Sarah Cameron in ‘Outer Banks’, and the hit teen drama finally dropped its fifth and final season on August 20.
With the series behind her, Cline is entering a brand-new chapter. Her massive online following, which sits at 16.4 million Instagram followers, has made her one of the most closely watched young stars making the leap from streaming fame to the big screen.
Now, Cline has given fans a relaxed glimpse into her everyday life. The actress shared new selfies taken from the back seat of a car, showing off a laid-back but polished look. In the first photo, she flashes a big, bright smile while wearing a black leather jacket, her tousled, shoulder-length blonde hair falling softly around her face.
The second shot captures her mid-touch-up, applying a lip product with a pen-style applicator while looking straight into the camera. The snaps have a natural, no-fuss feel that fans have come to love. It’s a far cry from the high-stakes treasure hunts and shootouts of her Netflix days.
Cline’s selfies arrive during a busy stretch for her career. Up next, she stars opposite Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz in Lionsgate’s thriller ‘Day Drinker’, directed by Marc Webb.
She plays Lorna, a bartender on a private yacht who encounters a mysterious guest played by Depp. The pair become entangled with a criminal figure played by Cruz, and the first trailer teased a revenge story with possible supernatural twists.
Written by Zach Dean, ‘Day Drinker’ is set to open in theaters on March 26, 2027. The film also marks Depp and Cruz’s fourth movie together. Cline also landed a role in Judd Apatow’s untitled comedy for Universal, co-written by Apatow and Glen Powell. Powell stars as a country-western singer whose life and career are in free fall.
Cline plays a pop star and the singer’s girlfriend, with Cristin Milioti also part of the cast. Apatow and execs had reportedly considered real-life pop stars for the part before opening auditions, and Cline impressed them enough to secure an offer.
Universal has dated the comedy for February 5, 2027. The project marks Apatow’s first scripted film since ‘The Bubble’. Cline has kept fans entertained beyond her acting roles, too. In April, she appeared alongside Margaret Qualley in Sabrina Carpenter’s music video for “House Tour,” a track from the album ‘Man’s Best Friend’.

Her film résumé has grown steadily in recent years. She appeared in ‘Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery’, the ‘I Know What You Did Last Summer’ sequel, and Amazon’s romantic drama ‘The Map That Leads to You’ opposite KJ Apa, directed by Lasse Hallström.
Industry watchers see 2027 as a key year for the actress. ‘Day Drinker’ in particular will show whether the fans who followed her through ‘Outer Banks’ are ready to follow her into movie theaters.

With a proven knack for comedy and a high-profile dramatic role on the way, Cline appears well-positioned for movie stardom. For now, her easygoing selfies offer a sweet reminder of the down-to-earth charm that made fans fall for her in the first place.
