Patrick Schwarzenegger Reveals Arnold Schwarzenegger’s Favorite Family Vacation Destination
Patrick Schwarzenegger is opening up about what it was like growing up as the son of Arnold Schwarzenegger and Maria Shriver. In an interview with Travel + Leisure on January 21, 2026, the White Lotus actor shared stories from his childhood and his family’s favorite travel spots.
Patrick explained that his early years were a mix of globe-trotting and California adventures. When Arnold was filming movies, the family often moved between the U.S. and Europe. But once Arnold became Governor of California, their focus stayed closer to home. My dad liked to stay within California. He felt that it had everything to offer, from beaches to skiing to mountains to desert, Patrick said.
He talked about how growing up in California gave him the chance to try so many activities in one state. From whitewater rafting trips to desert hikes, he said these adventures left him with a lasting love for California’s variety. You can drive an hour in any direction and feel like you’re somewhere completely different, he added.
Patrick’s travels weren’t just for fun. He also visited countries like China, Greece, and Abu Dhabi with the Special Olympics, the organization his grandmother, Eunice Kennedy Shriver, founded. One of my earliest memories was going out to South Africa for the Special Olympics, he remembered. It was a great traveling experience.
Now an adult, Patrick often mixes work and travel. He frequently brings his wife, model Abby Champion, along to film locations. The couple married in September 2025 in Idaho and recently explored Europe and Thailand while he worked on The White Lotus.
Speaking of acting, Patrick received praise for his role as Saxon Ratliff in season three of The White Lotus, which debuted in early 2025. His performance as the eldest sibling in a chaotic family earned him recognition, though his mom, Maria Shriver, joked about raising such a character. He reunited with the cast at the Golden Globes on January 11, where the show dominated in the television categories.
Patrick has a busy 2026 ahead. He just finished filming the romantic drama Love of Your Life with Margaret Qualley and will soon travel to Spain to work on Bunker, directed by Florian Zeller and co-starring Penélope Cruz and Javier Bardem.
Even with all the work and travel, Patrick tries to stay connected to his personal life. He was at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show cheering on Abby Champion, and he hopes to take a long-delayed honeymoon this year, possibly to the Maldives or Bora Bora.
Fans are also curious about Patrick’s potential future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, with rumors suggesting he might appear in an upcoming X-Men reboot. But whether he takes on a superhero role or sticks to drama and satire, Patrick continues to carve out his own path in Hollywood.
