Paul Bettany Jokes About His Wishlist for the Next MCU Phase
Fans are eagerly waiting to see Paul Bettany return as White Vision in the upcoming Disney+ series Vision Quest.
The show, a spin-off from WandaVision, is part of Phase Six of the MCU and is set to premiere in 2026.
While Bettany has not yet been confirmed for upcoming MCU films like Avengers: Doomsday or Secret Wars, viewers may get clues about his character’s future after watching the series.
Bettany recently appeared at Los Angeles Comic Con and he shared some hints about the show’s story. “It’s about intergenerational trauma… fathers and sons and denial of pain and denial of your own truth and coming to terms with who and what you are,” he said.
Fans believe this refers to the returning Ultron, played by James Spader, who is considered Vision’s “father.” The mention of intergenerational trauma also suggests that Vision’s sons, Wicca and Speed, may play a role.
When asked what he hopes to see in the next phase of the MCU, Bettany gave a funny answer: “A massive paycheck.”
Vision Quest is being created by Terry Matalas for Disney+. Bettany stars alongside James Spader, Todd Stashwick, Ruaridh Mollica, T’Nia Miller, Emily Hampshire, and Orla Brady. The project started development in October 2022 and was originally headed by Jac Schaeffer, but by May 2024, Matalas took over as showrunner and redeveloped the series. žFilming took place at Pinewood Studios in London from March to late July of thiy year, with episodes directed by Matalas, Christopher J. Byrne, Gandja Monteiro, and Vincenzo Natali. Several other AI characters, some returning from previous MCU projects, were also cast during production.
The series will have eight episodes and will focus on Vision’s journey and his relationships, continuing the story from WandaVision.
