Cillian Murphy is back as Tommy Shelby, the leader of the Shelby clan. Speaking about his return in June 2024, Murphy told reporters, “It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me…It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of ‘Peaky Blinders.’ This is one for the fans.”
Several other original cast members are reprising their roles. Sophie Rundle returns as Tommy’s sister Ada Thorne, while Stephen Graham and Ned Dennehy come back as Shelby allies Hayden Stagg and Charlie Strong. New additions to the cast include Rebecca Ferguson, Barry Keoghan, Tim Roth, and Jay Lycurgo.
The film is directed by Tom Harper, who previously directed multiple episodes of the series. “Peaky Blinders” first aired on the BBC in 2013 and later became available in the U.S. on Netflix. The series concluded after six seasons in 2022 and was created by British screenwriter Steven Knight.
Fans of the show can now get their first look at the movie in the newly released trailer, which promises action, intrigue, and all the trademark intensity of the Shelby family.
