Pedro Pascal is one of the hottest names in Hollywood right now. From Game of Thrones to The Mandalorian to The Last of Us, he’s been everywhere, and now he’s stepped into the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

His latest role as Reed Richards, leader of Marvel’s First Family, in The Fantastic Four: First Steps reportedly came with a massive paycheck.

According to the Instagram page Wealth, Pascal was paid around $10 million for the role. Variety has reported before that he earned about $600,000 for each episode of The Last of Us.

It’s a clear sign of how much studios are willing to pay for his star power. While his co-stars Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach’s salaries haven’t been revealed, rumors say their combined earnings don’t come close to what Pascal took home.

Fans have even joked about “Pedro fatigue” because of how often he appears in big projects. But it seems Marvel knew exactly what they were doing. Bringing in a big name like Pascal is part of their plan to draw audiences to theaters.

On the other hand, James Gunn’s Superman movie is going for a different approach. The film stars David Corenswet as Superman and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, both respected actors, but without Pascal’s level of fame.

The biggest star in the cast is probably Nicholas Hoult, who plays Lex Luthor. According to Puck News, Corenswet and Brosnahan earned about $750,000 each, and Hoult made around $2 million. Even when you add it all together, Pascal’s Marvel paycheck still beats them.

The Fantastic Four: First Steps had a reported budget of more than $200 million. As of August 3, 2025, it has made $197.1 million in the United States and Canada, and $170.3 million in other countries, for a worldwide total of about $367.4 million.

However, it also had the biggest second-week drop at the box office for any comic book movie released this year so far. So it remains to be seen whether Marvel’s tactic will pay out in the long run. Superman is beating Fantastic Four in every aspect when it comes to box office so far.
