A source connected to the production told CBC News the actor was heading home from set when the SUV he was in was hit.

Police said the crash happened at the intersection of New Cove Road and Elizabeth Avenue. In a press release sent on September 25, RNC communications officer Const. James Cadigan said the collision involved one of their patrol vehicles and that the investigation is ongoing.

Hartnett and a 59-year-old man who was with him were both brought to hospital with injuries police described as minor. The officer who was driving the patrol car was also taken to hospital as a precaution.

The RNC is asking anyone who saw the crash or has video of it to come forward to help their investigation.

The project Hartnett is filming is currently listed as Untitled Netflix Newfoundland Series. According to IMDb, it tells the story of a fisherman fighting to protect his town after a sea creature begins to terrorize the community.
