‘Percy Jackson’ Season 3 First Look Teases the Franchise’s Darkest Chapter Yet
Fans of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ have spent the better part of a year waiting for any hint of what comes next after that dramatic Season 2 finale, and the wait finally has a shape. The account Film Updates shared a fresh batch of first look images from the upcoming season, showing Percy in a rumpled sweater, Grover back in his orange ‘Camp Half Blood’ shirt, and a new group shot featuring what appears to be the Hunters of Artemis standing in the woods. The images circulated quickly among the fandom, reigniting chatter about where the beloved demigod saga is headed.
That excitement has real substance behind it. Entertainment Weekly has unveiled a new look at Season 3 of ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians,’ confirming the show will premiere on Disney+ on November 20, landing notably earlier than the franchise’s usual pattern of roughly a month before its previous December premieres. The first two seasons are already streaming on Disney+, and the new season’s premiere date was shared as part of an interview with series lead Walker Scobell and executive producer Craig Silverstein.
The timing shift is not random. Moving the premiere up appears designed to avoid a head to head battle with HBO’s highly anticipated adaptation of ‘Harry Potter,’ which is set to debut on Dec. 25 and would have otherwise overlapped with ‘Percy Jackson’ in its usual midseason stretch. The new date also lands the same day ‘The Hunger Games’ prequel ‘Sunrise on the Reaping’ hits theaters, putting three major franchise properties into close proximity this holiday season.
Season 3 finally pushes the show into territory the films never touched. The season will adapt ‘The Titan’s Curse,’ the third novel in Rick Riordan’s bestselling series, sending Percy into what the show describes as a darker and more expansive quest. The story introduces the Hunters of Artemis and a growing threat to Olympus, giving the franchise its biggest mythological stakes yet. That description lines up with the fourth image in the post, which shows a young girl in an orange camp shirt flanked by armored figures in the forest, almost certainly the Hunters themselves.
Scobell has been candid in recent interviews about how much heavier this chapter feels compared to what came before. Speaking with Entertainment Weekly, the actor described the upcoming season as the darkest the show has attempted so far, explaining that while the first book eases viewers into the world, ‘The Titan’s Curse’ is where the larger story truly tightens its grip. Silverstein echoed that sentiment, noting that this is the season where the larger saga tied to the Great Prophecy and the Titan lord Kronos finally comes into full focus after simmering in the background for two seasons.
The returning ensemble includes plenty of familiar faces. Besides Scobell and Tamara Smart as Thalia Grace, the season will feature Leah Sava Jeffries as Annabeth, Aryan Simhadri as Grover, Charlie Bushnell as Luke Castellan, and Dior Goodjohn as Clarisse La Rue, among others. New additions reportedly join the world of the gods as well, expanding the mythological roster considerably for this outing.
With production already wrapped and a firm date locked in for late November, anticipation is only going to build from here. Do the new images have you convinced this will finally be the season that gives Percy and his friends their toughest fight yet.
