Pom Klementieff is saying goodbye to the Mission: Impossible franchise in a powerful way, by doing all of her own stunts in the newest film, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning.

The actress shared her excitement and dedication during an interview on CBS Mornings while promoting the movie, which hits theaters on Friday, May 23.

“I’ve been training for years, it was my dream to be in Mission: Impossible and to do the most [action] I could do myself,” Klementieff said. “I think it looks more real on camera.”

Klementieff plays Paris, a character returning to seek revenge on her former boss, Gabriel. She said she worked hard to prepare for the fight scenes and even trained specifically to perform a difficult axe kick seen in the movie.

“We had an amazing stunt team,” she explained. “We took the time to rehearse, to do the high kicks, to rehearse the whole choreography.”

Her dedication on set impressed everyone, so much so that people began calling her “Pom Cruise,” a fun nickname that compares her to Tom Cruise, known for doing his own extreme stunts.

“His passion, his fire, his good energy … on set, it makes you be even better,” Klementieff said about working with Cruise.

Simon Pegg, who plays Benji Dunn, is also saying goodbye to the franchise. He has been part of Mission: Impossible since 2005 and called the moment “bittersweet.”

“We’ve been working so hard. And here we are, and it’s coming out,” said Pegg. “There’s a sense of sort of achievement and completion, but also a sense like we’re not going to hang out so much anymore.”

Still, Pegg says there’s always room for more surprises.

“Every time we finish a movie, that’s it, isn’t it? We can’t do anymore,” Pegg said. “With this one, I genuinely can’t see how we could possibly risk his life any more than we do on this.”

Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning is distributed by Paramount Pictures, and fans can catch all the action when the movie opens Friday, May 23.
