Set on a remote planet in the future, the story follows Dek, a young Predator who has been cast out from his clan. “In the future on a remote planet, a young Predator, outcast from his clan, finds an unlikely ally in Thia and embarks on a treacherous journey in search of the ultimate adversary,” a synopsis from The Walt Disney Company explains.

Elle Fanning plays Thia, a legless Weyland-Yutani synth who teams up with Dek, and also portrays Tessa, a perfect-condition synth who opposes them.

Fanning takes on several other synth roles throughout the film. Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi plays Dek, bringing the young Predator to life.

To make Dek more expressive, Studio Gillis designed a creature suit for the character, with his face enhanced digitally using motion capture.

The Predator language was developed for the film by the linguist who created the Naʼvi language for Avatar. Wētā Workshop contributed practical effects and designs, adding to the film’s immersive world. The fictional Weyland-Yutani Corporation from the Alien series also makes an appearance.

Filming took place in New Zealand under the working title Backpack, starting in August 2024 and wrapping in late October. Jeff Cutter served as cinematographer, reuniting with Trachtenberg after their work together on Prey.
