“Predator: Badlands” keeps pulling in strong numbers at the box office, and recent reports say the movie has now made about $13 million more, pushing its domestic total to around $66.3 million.

With that number, the film has already become the top-earning Predator movie ever in the United States. Globally, it has made over $136 million so far, according to the same reports. The production budget was $105 million, so the film is well on its way to covering its costs.

The movie is the ninth entry in the long-running Predator series and was released by 20th Century Studios. It was directed by Dan Trachtenberg, who also worked on the story with Patrick Aison. Aison wrote the screenplay as well. The film stars Elle Fanning and Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi in the main roles.

“Predator: Badlands” follows Dek, a young Predator who has been cast out from his clan. After crashing on a dangerous planet, he tries to survive while proving he still deserves the title of hunter.

During that fight, he builds an unexpected partnership with Thia, a synthetic from the Weyland-Yutani Corporation who is dealing with her own damage and past. The two of them face a deadly alpha creature that pushes both human and Predator instincts to their limit.

Trachtenberg shared in earlier interviews that he originally imagined three Predator movies he wanted to make. He said the ideas included “Predator: Killer of Killers,” “Predator: Badlands,” and another one he hopes to direct if this film continues to do well. Reports also say that there have been talks with Arnold Schwarzenegger about possibly bringing back Dutch in a future entry. There are also ongoing rumors, mentioned in fan and industry discussions, about a sequel to “Prey,” and the cast is said to be interested in returning if it happens.

With strong box office results and growing interest in future sequels, it looks like the Predator series may be heading into one of its busiest eras yet.
