Prime Video Greenlights ‘Joseph of Egypt’ From The Chosen Creator
Prime Video is expanding its lineup of biblical dramas with a brand-new series called Joseph of Egypt. The show comes from 5&2 Studios, the same team behind The Chosen, and will star Adam Hashmi from Bridgerton and Criminal Record.
According to Prime Video, filming has already started in New Mexico, but there’s no word yet on when it will be released.
The eight-episode story takes audiences back to the Old Testament. It follows Joseph, the beloved son of Jacob, whose jealous brothers betray him. After facing hardship, Joseph rises to power in Egypt and becomes a trusted advisor to Pharaoh.
But when his past returns, he must make a tough choice that could destroy everything he has built.
The cast also includes Alexander Siddig as Jacob, Babak Tafti as Simeon, Daniel Peera as Reuben, and Iris Bahr as Leah. Other actors joining the project are Dakota Shapiro, Tannaz Shastiri, Ruben Vernier, Amir Malaklou, Moran Atias, Necar Zadegan, Matisse Ratron-Neal, Shani Atias, and Siya Maleki.
Dallas Jenkins, creator, director, and co-writer of The Chosen, is serving as executive producer alongside Brad Pelo, Mark Sourian, Ryan Swanson, and Tyler Thompson. “Jenkins is certainly the person you’d want on your team when bringing the pages of the Bible to life,” says Prime Video, noting his global success with The Chosen.
Jenkins is currently busy working on the sixth and second-to-last season of The Chosen, which is expected to be released next year. In the meantime, Joseph of Egypt will give audiences another epic biblical journey filled with betrayal, redemption, and faith.
