Prime Video is reportedly planning to expand its Fallout franchise with a reality competition show based on Fallout Shelter.

According to insider Jeff Sneider, the series would take inspiration from the free-to-play Fallout management game, where players run a vault and help its residents survive.

The project has not been officially confirmed by Amazon Studios, so details are still unverified. However, the concept seems possible.

The show is said to challenge contestants to manage a vault and its resources, including food, water, and other essentials, testing how well players can keep their vault dwellers alive. The format is not finalized yet and could take place in either one large vault or multiple smaller ones.

Executive producers Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy are reportedly overseeing the reality series through their Kilter Films banner, while Bethesda Game Studios, the company behind the Fallout games, is producing. Filming could begin as early as next year.

The Fallout series has been a hit for Prime Video. Season 2 recently debuted and earned a 95% fresh rating from critics.

The reality show would build on the partnership between Prime Video and Bethesda, blending elements of the TV series with the game universe. Todd Howard, director at Bethesda and executive producer on the series, said, “We’re having those conversations now of, what are we doing in Season 3 for the TV show and what elements can we bring into our games at that time when it comes out that don’t feel forced or fake.”

If it happens, the Fallout Shelter competition could offer fans a unique way to engage with the franchise and experience the challenges of running a vault in real life.
