Big news dropped yesterday, August 1, 2025, confirming that Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will join Tom Holland’s Spider-Man and Jon Bernthal’s Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, per Production Listings. Fans had been buzzing about Ruffalo’s involvement for a while, and the rumors got a boost when an artist working on the film accidentally shared pins on their art station showing Hulk and Spider-Man in various poses.

Now, it’s official, and the hype is real. Details about the movie’s plot are still hush-hush, but Marvel boss Kevin Feige gave some hints a few days ago during an interview.

He said the film will focus on a street-level story, moving away from the world-ending stakes of past Spider-Man films. “I think there’s a promise at the end of No Way Home, that for as sad as it is that Peter is forgotten by everyone in his life, we are seeing for the first time in the Tom Holland Spider-Man stories him being a proper Spider-Man. Him being by himself, dedicated to saving the city, and dealing with — for lack of better terms — street-level crime, as opposed to world-ending events,” Feige explained.

He also teased that this smaller-scale vibe is the perfect chance to bring in characters Spider-Man hasn’t teamed up with yet, like the Punisher. “So when you do that, you say, okay, who are the other street-level characters that we’ve never seen him interact with? And of course, I love that The Punisher started in a Spider-Man comic. That great cover… I don’t want to say too much, but Destin — I will say too much — Destin is doing an amazing job right now on that movie, which starts shooting very soon. And he’s got eight or nine comic covers up on his wall in his art department that he is bringing to life in this movie, which is super cool,” he added.

So, how do Hulk and Punisher fit into a street-level Spider-Man story? A recent piece from The Hollywood Reporter suggested, “The plot details are being kept under the vest, but you can bet that, in the mighty Marvel manner, Spider-Man, Punisher and Hulk will all fight one another before figuring out who the real bad guys are.” That makes sense, especially since Michael Mando is confirmed to return as Scorpion from Spider-Man: Homecoming, per casting reports.

There’s also buzz about Mister Negative showing up, fueled by set photos from Glasgow, Scotland, where filming began on August 1, 2025. The photos showed armored vehicles with a red demon logo, which reports linked to the Inner Demons gang, led by Mister Negative in the comics, hinting at his possible role.

With Spider-Man, Hulk, Punisher, and Scorpion all in the mix, Spider-Man: Brand New Day, set for release on July 31, 2026, is gearing up for some epic street-level chaos.
