Rafe Judkins Speaks Out After ‘The Wheel of Time’ Cancellation: “I Don’t Know Why”
Rafe Judkins, the showrunner behind The Wheel of Time, has finally spoken out after Amazon canceled the fantasy series. The news of the cancellation came in May, not long after the third season ended.
That season was considered by many fans and critics to be the best one yet, and it felt like the show was really starting to hit its stride. So the sudden end left a lot of people feeling confused and disappointed.
Now Judkins has taken to Instagram to share how he feels about it. And it turns out, he’s just as puzzled as everyone else. “Why was The Wheel of Time canceled? And the truth is, I don’t know,” he wrote in his post.
Judkins didn’t just talk about the end of the show. He also shared some thoughts on how storytelling on TV has changed. He explained how sad it was not to be able to finish the full story based on Robert Jordan’s books.
He also hinted at how hard it is for long-form shows, like epic fantasy stories, to survive in today’s TV world.
Amazon had said the cancellation was for financial reasons, but Judkins didn’t go into any more detail. Instead, he kept his focus on what the series meant to him and what it meant to bring Jordan’s world to the screen.
His post got a lot of attention from fans, many of whom are still upset the series won’t get the ending it was building toward.
The cancellation marks the end of a series that, for three seasons, tried to adapt one of fantasy’s most beloved book series. Whether the story continues in another form, or remains unfinished, fans will remember the journey it took them on.
