Rob Liefeld, the creator of Deadpool, has once again criticized Marvel Studios, this time over the CGI of Galactus in the upcoming Fantastic Four movie. Liefeld shared a clip on X showing Galactus destroying a city and said, “Looks so fake. The Marvel FX fell off a cliff.”

Ralph Ineson, who provided the voice and facial model for Galactus, responded simply with, “Rent free 😂,” shutting down Liefeld’s comment in a humorous way.

Liefeld has been a vocal critic of Marvel for years. His frustration isn’t just about movies. He also criticized Kevin Feige, calling the MCU “the single biggest fail of 2025” and saying, “Feige is so washed. Doomsical Chairs can’t get here fast enough!” This comes as Marvel faces its lowest box office performance in years, with 2025 possibly being the first year since 2011 without a superhero movie in the global Top 10.

Part of Liefeld’s ongoing tension with Marvel stems from personal slights. Earlier this year, he announced that he was severing ties with the publisher that created Deadpool and Cable.

He said he felt excluded from the Deadpool & Wolverine premiere, where he and his family were not invited to the afterparty. On his podcast, Robservations, he said, “It was meant to embarrass, diminish, defeat me.”

He also mentioned that some photos he took with the creative team were deleted, though other photos, including ones with his family, remained in Disney’s press portal. He believes these actions show that Marvel no longer valued his contributions.

Liefeld’s disagreements with Marvel go back even further. In 2023, he criticized a change in Wolverine’s credits that gave co-creator status to editor Roy Thomas, a decision that upset the widow of Wolverine’s original co-creator, Len Wein.

In June 2024, Liefeld emailed Marvel asking for a more prominent credit on Deadpool & Wolverine and requested better access to premieres and promotions. He wrote, “Marvel’s treatment of creators has never been their strength. Without the worlds, the characters and the concepts that we create — and in this specific case, the world of Deadpool — there are no films to shoot. No blockbusters to distribute. … I am not the easy button at Staples. I am the human imagination behind it all.”

According to his agents, Marvel did not take the email well, and Liefeld believes the backlash contributed to him being left out of the afterparty.

Liefeld has made it clear he won’t stay silent on what he sees as problems at Marvel, whether it’s creative decisions or how the company treats its original creators. Ineson’s response shows that not everyone takes his criticisms seriously, but Liefeld continues to speak out.
