Rayna Vallandingham Turns Heads in New ‘Street Fighter’ Press Photos as the Real-Life Champion Steps Into Juli
Every big action movie needs a breakout star, and the ‘Street Fighter’ reboot has found a strong contender in Rayna Vallandingham. The martial arts champion turned actress has been one of the most talked-about members of the film’s sprawling ensemble throughout its promotional campaign.
Her résumé makes that buzz easy to understand. Vallandingham started martial arts at just 2 years old, earned her first-degree black belt at 6, and became the youngest black belt to win a Taekwondo world championship at age 8, going on to collect 13 world titles in total.
Acting grew naturally out of that foundation. She made her debut in the karate-themed film ‘Underdog Kids’ in 2015, and later landed the role of Zara Malik in the sixth and final season of Netflix’s ‘Cobra Kai’, a call she received on her 20th birthday.
That momentum carried her straight into the ‘Street Fighter’ universe. In the film, she plays Juli, a character who first appeared in ‘Street Fighter Alpha 3’ as a private security officer and assassin working for the villainous M. Bison as part of his elite Dolls.
With the movie now in theaters, Vallandingham is stealing the spotlight once again. On October 17, The XO Show shared 2 new press photos of the actress, noting that she dazzled for the film’s promotional push.

In the snaps, she wears a fitted gray long-sleeve top featuring a bold red graphic panel, her dark hair pulled into a sleek high ponytail. Her makeup is soft and polished, with defined brows and a warm, glowy finish that gives the portraits a striking editorial feel.
The look is a clear departure from the intense fighter she plays on screen. That contrast is part of what has made her press appearances so effective, showing she can balance star power with genuine athletic credibility.
Vallandingham has been a consistent standout throughout the promotional run. Earlier in October, new studio portraits of her were shared ahead of release, and she also posed alongside Callina Liang in front of colorful arcade-inspired artwork, with Vallandingham throwing a fist toward the camera.

That arcade aesthetic has been central to the campaign. The marketing has also leaned into the fact that much of the ensemble is made up of actual fighters, and a theatrical promo introduced her character as reporting for duty on behalf of Shadaloo.
Her style has been a highlight since the earliest days of the press cycle. Ahead of The Game Awards 2025, she stood out in an all-black monochrome outfit in a promotional post that showcased the whole cast’s fashion sense.
Many fans see her casting as a natural fit. The role of Juli calls for authentic martial arts ability rather than choreography learned on set, something Vallandingham brings in abundance.
She has also been outspoken about women’s place in martial arts. Vallandingham has explained that she embraced being told she kicked like a girl as a compliment, while acknowledging how difficult it could be to arrive on sets filled with stuntmen and no other women.

The press photos land at an interesting time for the film. ‘Street Fighter’ opened on October 16 to a notable split between critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes, which makes the campaign especially important for its newer faces.
For many viewers, seeing a real champion bring Juli to life is one of the movie’s biggest selling points. If her latest portraits are any indication, Vallandingham is ready to make the leap from martial arts prodigy to full-fledged screen star.
Do you think Rayna Vallandingham’s real-life martial arts experience makes her the perfect choice to play Juli in Street Fighter?
