‘Reacher’ Actor Alan Ritchson Reportedly Tried to Run Over Neighbor
Alan Ritchson is clarifying the details of a high-stress confrontation in his Tennessee neighborhood that recently went viral. The 43-year-old actor provided a detailed statement to the Brentwood Police Department on March 22, explaining that he was forced to use physical force to protect his family.
According to Ritchson, the incident began while he was riding motorcycles with his two young sons and was suddenly confronted by an aggressive neighbor, Ronnie Taylor. The Reacher star claimed that the situation became dangerous when Taylor intentionally stepped in front of his moving bike.
Ritchson stated that in order to avoid a collision, he had to brake so violently that his motorcycle flipped and pinned him to the ground. “In an effort to avoid hitting him, I was forced to stop so hard my bike flipped over, landing on me,” he explained in the police documents, noting that he suffered injuries to his elbow and thumb during the fall.
The tension escalated when Ritchson stood up, and Taylor allegedly approached him as if he were ready for a physical fight. The actor admitted to pushing the man away to create a safe distance for his children, who were watching the scene unfold from their own bikes.
Ritchson also noted that he could smell alcohol on the man’s breath and that Taylor was screaming at him for allegedly driving like a lunatic through the residential area. As Ritchson tried to leave the scene, he claims Taylor blocked his path a second time and shoved both the actor and his motorcycle back to the ground.
“I completely now feared for both my and my kids’ safety, having been aggressively stopped twice and assaulted by this out-of-control individual,” he alleged in the report. He argued that the subsequent footage of him striking Taylor was a necessary defensive action to ensure he and his sons could safely escape the situation.
Following a thorough investigation, the Brentwood Police Department announced on March 25 that Ritchson would not face any criminal charges. Authorities reviewed video evidence and witness statements, concluding that the actor had acted in self-defense.
Although a reckless endangerment charge was considered for Taylor, Ritchson ultimately chose not to press charges against his neighbor, effectively closing the case with the agreement of the District Attorney’s Office.
While navigating this neighborhood drama, Ritchson has remained extremely active in the professional sphere with several high-profile projects set for the year. Fans can look forward to seeing him in the Netflix sci-fi action film War Machine, where he stars alongside Dennis Quaid and Jai Courtney.
Production for the fourth season of his hit series Reacher is also expected to move forward later this year, alongside a spinoff series titled Neagley starring Maria Sten. he also has an upcoming holiday project, The Man with the Bag. Ritchson continues to be one of the busiest leading men in the industry.
