‘Reacher’ Star Agnez Mo Wants to Play Psylocke in the MCU, and She’s Not Being Subtle About It

Marvel’s rebooted ‘X-Men‘ has been the subject of nonstop speculation ever since the studio confirmed it was building a new mutant team from the ground up, separate from the Fox-era films that introduced most fans to the franchise. With casting news trickling out over the past several months, fans have been quick to campaign for their favorite actors to land key roles before the full roster is locked in.

That energy found a new target this week, and it came from an unexpected direction. Agnez Mo, the Indonesian singer and actress currently earning praise for her performance as Lila Hoth in ‘Reacher’ Season 4, found herself thrust into the fan-casting conversation after a post from the account BoinkBuzz suggested she’d make a compelling Psylocke.

Rather than staying quiet, Mo leaned directly into the moment. Responding on X, she wrote, “Thanks! I’m just gonna put it out to the universe… Psylocke,” tagging both Marvel Studios and Marvel directly, while also noting that the image circulating alongside the fan-casting post had actually been AI-generated rather than a real photo of her in costume.

The response quickly gained traction online, racking up hundreds of thousands of views within hours as fans piled on with their own support for the idea. Mo didn’t stop at a single tweet either, following up with additional posts continuing to tag Marvel Studios directly, making clear this wasn’t just a passing joke but something she genuinely wants considered.

Her sudden visibility comes at a moment when ‘Reacher’ Season 4 has been generating some of the strongest reactions of her career so far, with viewers highlighting her performance as a standout part of the new season. That momentum appears to be exactly what’s fueling the fan enthusiasm behind pairing her with one of the X-Men’s more visually striking and physically demanding roles.

Psylocke, also known as Betsy Braddock, has had a complicated history on screen. The character has previously been played by three different actresses in live action, most notably Olivia Munn, who portrayed her in both ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ and ‘X-Men: Dark Phoenix’ as a telepathic ninja wielding a signature psychic blade.

Marvel Studios has already begun rolling out casting for its ‘X-Men’ reboot, with several major roles confirmed at this year’s D23 event. Kit Connor is set to play Cyclops, Christopher Abbott will take on Professor Charles Xavier, and Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost, while Inde Navarrette and Maya Boyd will play Rogue and Storm respectively.

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ star Sadie Sink rounds out the confirmed lineup so far as Jean Grey, though additional names, including Beast and Magneto, are still expected to be announced. Director Jake Schreier has indicated the film is drawing inspiration from multiple eras of X-Men comics, including Chris Claremont’s run and more recent Jonathan Hickman material, leaving plenty of room for characters like Psylocke to factor into the story.

Whether Marvel Studios responds to the growing online push remains to be seen, but Mo’s willingness to publicly campaign for the role has undeniably put her name on the radar for a franchise still actively filling out its roster. For a fandom that has turned casting speculation into something of a sport, this latest push shows no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
