Rebecca Ferguson Opens up About Becoming a Mom at 23 With a Partner 22 Years Older
Rebecca Ferguson is opening up about the unique challenges of balancing a massive Hollywood career with the realities of young motherhood. In a recent conversation with Harper’s Bazaar, the Silo star reflected on welcoming her son, Isac, when she was just 23 years old.
While she was fairly young at the time, Ferguson pointed out that her perspective on maturity was a bit different because she had been a working professional since the age of 15. Having been immersed in the industry as a teenager, she felt she had already been thrown into the deep end of responsibility long before she became a parent.
This early exposure to the working world gave her a sense of maturity that helped her navigate those early years of motherhood. Ferguson shares her son with former partner Ludwig Hallberg, and while they had a twenty-two-year age gap, she felt her life as an adult had truly begun years prior.
The actress is also a mother to a seven-year-old daughter, Saga, with her husband, Rory St. Clair Gainer. Ferguson shared some wild stories about working through her second pregnancy, specifically while filming high-octane stunts for the Mission: Impossible franchise. She recalled a cycle of filming intense fight scenes and then having to run off and vomit into a bag before immediately heading back to the set to finish the shot.
Despite the global nature of her work, which has taken her from the deserts of Abu Dhabi to the freezing Arctic, Ferguson has a very strict rule to protect her family time. She refuses to be away from her children for more than three weeks at a time, calling it her number one priority. This boundary allows her to remain a present figure in her children’s lives even while she is busy starring in some of the biggest sci-fi and action epics.
She also shared a hilarious story from a few years ago about her daughter’s school “show and tell” experience. After filming Hercules with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Ferguson decided to bring home a prop skull as a gift for her daughter. She laughed about her six-year-old actually taking the amazing skull to class, only for the school to send it right back home with a request for a slightly more traditional item.
As of February, Rebecca Ferguson is firmly established as one of the most bankable stars in the science fiction genre. Her latest film, the high-concept thriller Mercy, hit theaters on January 23 and features her as a cold, calculating artificial intelligence judge who must decide the fate of a detective played by Chris Pratt. While the film has received a mixed response from critics, audiences have praised her focused performance.
Looking further into 2026, Ferguson has an incredibly packed schedule that spans both the big and small screens. She is currently preparing for the premiere of Silo Season 3 on Apple TV+, and production is already moving forward on the fourth and final season.
On the movie side, she has joined the cast of the highly anticipated Peaky Blinders film, The Immortal Man, where she will play a mysterious medium named Kaulo alongside Cillian Murphy. She is also set to appear in the fantasy adaptation The Magic Faraway Tree.
