Capcom, the developer of the popular video game franchise Resident Evil, revealed today that their Resident Evil 7: Biohazard just reached the top sales out of all the other RE games ever released with over 10 million copies sold.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard was released in 2017 as a reboot of the RE video game series. It was also the first RE game played from the first-person perspective. Although the fans showed resentment to that change in the franchise, that didn’t stop them to buy the game, which is the reason the game is here where it is today.
With this, Resident Evil 7 isn’t only the best-selling RE game ever, but also the second best-selling game from Capcom. Monster Hunter World is still on top of that list.
Here’s what Capcom had to say about this success:
“Capcom succeeded with these promotions, achieving long-running sales in excess of 1 million units in each fiscal year since the release of Resident Evil 7: Biohazard, leading the game to be the first in the series to break 10 million cumulative worldwide shipments.”
Capcom also shared the “thank you” note on their Twitter account:
