Return to Westeros: First Teaser for ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms’ Revealed
HBO has just dropped the first teaser for its newest Game of Thrones prequel, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. The fantasy drama is based on George R. R. Martin’s Tales of Dunk and Egg stories and will take fans back to Westeros once again.
The show was created by Ira Parker and George R. R. Martin and is set long before the events of Game of Thrones.
It follows Ser Duncan the Tall, known as Dunk, and his young squire, Aegon Targaryen, nicknamed Egg. Peter Claffey plays Dunk, while Dexter Sol Ansell takes on the role of Egg.
Other cast members include Finn Bennett as Prince Aerion Targaryen, Bertie Carvel as Prince Baelor Targaryen, Tanzyn Crawford as Tanselle the puppeteer, Daniel Ings as Ser Lyonel Baratheon, and Sam Spruell as Prince Maekar Targaryen.

Production for the series started in June 2024 in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and wrapped up in September the same year. The six-episode season is set to premiere on HBO and Max in January 2026. According to HBO, it was originally expected to release in late 2025, but the date was moved slightly.
The story is described as a more personal and character-driven tale compared to previous Thrones series.
It focuses on the adventures of Dunk and Egg as they travel the Seven Kingdoms, encountering lords, knights, and the dangers of a realm ruled by dragons’ descendants.
George R. R. Martin once said that “Dunk and Egg are two of my favorite characters, and I’m thrilled to see them come to life on screen.”
With the teaser now out, fans are getting their first real look at the tone and feel of the new series. While HBO hasn’t shared many plot details, the short clip hints at a return to the world of honor, betrayal, and the looming shadows of Targaryen power.
