Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is a light novel series with twenty-nine volumes published. An anime adaptation aired between April and September 2016. A second season was split into two courses, the first part of which aired from July 8 to September 30, 2020, while the second aired from January 6, 2021, to March 24, 2021. In this article, we will tell you everything you need to know about a potential fourth season of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World.
The fourth season of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is still uncertain, mainly because we still don’t know anything about a third season at this moment. The second season of the anime aired only a year ago, but there haven’t been any additional works based on this popular light novel series. Still, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is a very popular series, and based on all the known facts, both a third and fourth season are highly probable. We just don’t know when.
The rest of this article will bring you all the known and unknown information related to a potential season 4 of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. You’re going to find out about its potential release date, whether there is a trailer, what the story could be about, and much more about this extremely popular new anime series.
Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 4 release date
Studio White Fox is in charge of adapting the light novel series into an anime series. The anime was directed by Masaharu Watanabe and written by Masahiro Yotokani, while Kyūta Sakai was in charge of character design and animation direction. The 25-episode first season of the series ran from April 4 to September 19, 2016 after midnight (in Japan, it is counted as the previous day of television) on TV Tokyo and began with a 48-minute double episode.
The series was streamed globally outside of Asia as a simulcast on stream provider Crunchyroll. The opening titles are “Redo” by Konomi Suzuki and “Paradisus-Paradoxum” by MYTH & ROID. The longest ending themes (EDs) in the season were MYTH & ROID’s “Styx Helix” and Rie Takahashi’s “Stay Alive.” Occasionally the titles ran while the episode was still running, or other songs were used in individual episodes, such as “STRAIGHT BET” or “theater D” by MYTH & ROID. In some cases, the opening and/or closing themes were completely omitted.
A bonus OVA episode was announced in September 2017. The OVA episode titled Re:Zero – Memory Snow was released in Japanese theaters on October 6, 2018. A second OVA episode entitled Re:Zero – Frozen Bonds was released in Japan on November 8, 2019.
A second season was announced in March 2019 and was scheduled to air in Japan from April 2020. However, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the start of the second season has been pushed back to July 2020. The first 13 episodes of the second season aired through September 30, 2020, with the remaining 12 episodes airing between January 6 and March 24, 2021. Season 2 was also simulcasted worldwide by Crunchyroll.
Taking all of this into account, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World‘s future seems very bright. The source works are, as we have said, quite popular, as was the anime series, and the fact that the franchise has a large fanbase, combined with the fact that we have seen a second season only recently, makes us very hopeful. In any case, the earliest we could see a potential fourth season is 2025, but a more realistic scenario is either late 2025 or even 2026, if it even happens. It’s till a long way to go, but we’re sure that the fans are going to wait.
Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 4 trailer
You now know all the facts and our thoughts related to Re:Zero Season 4, which means that you’ve probably deduced for yourselves that there is no trailer for the fourth season of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. This is because we do not know whether there will even be a third season of the show, let alone the fourth one, which means that a trailer might not appear at all. But, based on all the information we have, this does not seem like a likely outcome.
As we have said, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is a very likely candidate for a return, even for a fourth season. The light novel series still has more material up for adapting and the anime is quite popular as well, enormously so, in fact. Still, we have to wait and see whether there are actual plans for a continuation before we can make a proper prediction. Be that as it may, Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is currently on a short break until we get more information on the show’s future, primarily the third, but also the fourth season.
Taking into account everything we’ve said, a trailer for Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is unlikely to come out this or the next year. The earliest we could see a trailer is 2025, but we would have to get confirmation of a second season sometime during 2023 or 2024 for that to happen.
Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 4 plot
At this moment, we do not know which parts of the light novel series are going to be adapted in the potential Season 4 of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World. Namely, due to a lack of information in general, we have absolutely no clue how far the fourth season might go, if it even happens; we don’t even know how far a third season could go, let alone a fourth one. The only thing we know for sure is that it will continue the adventure of the show’s protagonists. What follows is a general overview of the show’s plot.
The story is about Subaru Natsuki, a NEET, who suddenly finds himself in a parallel world after buying some groceries in the evening. After initial confusion, he is rescued from a group of thugs by a silver-haired half-elf who introduces herself as Satella. He stays close to her as he wants to help her find her locket, which was recently stolen from her and is very valuable to her.
After some time, they find the thief’s hideout in the city slums. Subaru enters the thief’s house to find a man’s body covered in blood. He is then fatally injured by an unknown woman. Satella, who has been waiting outside, becomes suspicious of the noise and enters the house as well, at which point she too is killed by the woman. With his last breath, Subaru promises to save Satella.
The next moment, Subaru finds himself in broad daylight in front of the same greengrocer he asked a few things about upon his arrival in the world. Subaru is confused, but assumes his death was a daydream and, therefore, only imagination. He goes in search of Satella and her locket. So he returns to the slum and finds the master of the house, Rom, whom he had previously seen dead, alive again.
Talking to him, Subaru finds out that the thief, Felt, should be arriving soon, and he can buy the locket from her. However, another party is also interested in the badge, which is represented by a woman and introduces itself as Elsa. Elsa bids a large sum for the locket, but Subaru is able to gain the upper hand in the negotiation by offering his cell phone, technology that doesn’t exist in this world.
Elsa caves in, but asks him what he intends to do with the locket, to which he replies that he wants to find the owner (i.e., Satella) and give it back to her. The mood then turns: Elsa attacks Subaru, and a fight ensues. In the course of this, Rom, Felt, and Subaru die as Elsa proves to be extremely strong in battle.
The next moment, Subaru finds himself in front of the greengrocer again and collapses unconscious. When he wakes up, he sees Satella walking down the street and calls for her. “Satella” turns around but is angry that he calls her by the name of the evil, envious witch and apparently does not know Subaru. Subaru later finds out that he has the ability to undo his death and use it to rewind time.
The problem, however, is that he cannot himself determine the time at which he wakes up, but that this is apparently determined at random. Furthermore, nobody but him remembers what happened before his death. He can’t tell anyone about his ability either, as when he tries, time seems to stand still and menacing arms of miasma appear, appearing to kill him if he keeps talking.
Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 4 cast
It’s still too early for us to discuss a potential fourth season of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World in terms of cast and characters, simply because we do not know whether there will even be a fourth season. Will there be a Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World Season 5?
The future of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World is, as of this moment, unknown. The series has done well and there is still a lot of material to adapt, which is a good sign for fans of Re:Zero − Starting Life in Another World, but we are going to have to wait and see how the situation with season three evolves to know more about a potential season four and five, although these two seasons aren’t unlikely.
