At the Goya Awards in Spain, Richard Gere was given a lifetime achievement award. While accepting the award, he took a moment to criticize President Donald Trump, calling him a “bully and a thug.”

Gere shared his concerns about the state of the world, saying that people are becoming more divided and that many leaders, including Trump, are not inspiring the way they should. His comments were met with loud applause from the audience.

Gere added that the problems he’s noticed in the U.S. are happening everywhere. He warned that people need to stay alert. Earlier, at a press conference, he said America is going through a difficult time, and it’s important for people to stand up against the mix of money and power. He criticized how millionaires are in charge of the U.S., calling it dangerous for the world.

We must be vigilant about this dark marriage of money and power. It is irresponsible and corrosive that there are millionaires in charge of the United States, [it’s] a danger to the whole planet. The millionaire clowns surrounding Trump are immature and narcissistic, a deadly mix
