The panel took place on July 24, 2026, and brought together executive producers Dan Harmon and Scott Marder alongside voice cast members Ian Cardoni, Harry Belden, Spencer Grammer, and Chris Parnell, with Jeffery Vega moderating the discussion. Sarah Chalke, who voices Beth, had attended the previous year’s panel but was absent from this one.
Fans in attendance were treated to an exclusive, never-before-seen look at season 10 footage, though the material shown was still in black and white. Marder explained that color would be added soon as part of the next stage of the animation process, indicating the season remains in active production rather than post production.
The brief clip that was shown found Rick saving a planet while occupying a rented body through something called Air B’n Body, before cutting to a funeral scene where Rick wakes up inside a coffin, having faked his death to go on vacation while everyone assumed the worst. It is a small taste, but one very much in keeping with the show’s tradition of burying its wildest premises inside otherwise mundane setups.
Beyond the footage, the panel also served as a send off for the season 9 finale, which the cast and creators described as one of the strongest episodes the show has produced. Marder used part of the discussion to talk about the writing process, noting that scripts continue to be revised right up until the last possible moment before an episode locks.
Rick and Morty Renewal and Production Timeline
‘Rick and Morty’ season 10 traces back to a long-term commitment Adult Swim made years ago. The franchise was renewed for 70 additional episodes as part of a deal with co-creators Dan Harmon and Justin Roiland announced in May 2018, and season 10 was officially confirmed as part of that same renewal.
Season 10 also carries the distinction of being the final season covered under that original 70 episode order, meaning everything that follows will come from a separate agreement. That subsequent deal, announced at New York Comic Con in October 2024, extended the show through season 12 and pushed its production timeline out to at least 2029.
Progress on the season has been steady if unhurried. Marder told fans at New York Comic Con in October 2024 that the writers were almost finished with the first pass of season 10 scripts. Roughly a year later, in September 2025, executive producer Steve Levy confirmed that the season had entered production.

Rick and Morty Movie and Spin Off Expansion
Season 10 is arriving alongside a broader expansion of the ‘Rick and Morty’ universe. An untitled ‘Rick and Morty’ movie is currently in development, with series veteran Jacob Hair in talks to direct, though it remains unclear whether the film will tie into the upcoming seasons or whether it will receive a theatrical release.
The Comic Con panel reaffirmed that a movie is in the works even as season 10 remains unfinished. Jacob Hair has been involved with the franchise since 2019, giving him deep familiarity with the show’s tone heading into a potential feature length format.
There is also a spin off on the way. A show centered on President Curtis, voiced by Keith David, is set to premiere alongside the new season on Hulu and HBO Max. That spin off is slated to premiere on July 26, 2026, the same day as the season 9 finale.
