Robert Pattinson Is Amazed by the New Generations Still Falling for ‘Twilight’
Few franchises have had a cultural afterlife quite like ‘Twilight’. Catherine Hardwicke’s 2008 adaptation of Stephenie Meyer’s hit 2005 novel was made on a modest $37 million budget, yet it earned $412 million worldwide and launched a 5-film saga that grossed $3.3 billion, turning Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart into global superstars.
For years, Pattinson had a famously complicated relationship with the vampire romance that made him famous. He once revealed on ‘The Howard Stern Show’ that he nearly got fired for taking the role too seriously, and he has often poked fun at the franchise in interviews.
Over time, however, the actor’s perspective has shifted. Back in 2019, he noted that the films had become a hip thing to like among people in their late teens and early 20s, describing it as a fascinating second wave of appreciation.
More recently, he laughed off fans who still complain that ‘Twilight’ ruined the vampire genre, telling GQ Spain he couldn’t understand why anyone would still be upset about something from nearly 20 years ago.
Now the 40-year-old star has offered his warmest reflection yet. In a recent interview with The Associated Press, Pattinson said he is amazed at the impact ‘Twilight’ continues to have, explaining that he can’t believe how many waves of new generations have become so invested in the films.

He called the phenomenon wonderful and even joked that he can’t wait to watch the whole saga again, suggesting it would make for a nice little weekend. The playful comment delighted fans who have watched him evolve from reluctant heartthrob to someone who openly embraces the franchise’s legacy.
Pattinson’s comments arrive during a fresh surge of interest in the series. All 5 ‘Twilight’ films began streaming on Netflix in the U.S. on October 1, perfectly timed for Halloween marathons.
The original film has since climbed into Netflix’s Top 10, according to FlixPatrol, as fans rush to revisit it before it leaves the platform. The saga’s return has also come amid reports of a future reboot, keeping Bella and Edward firmly in the conversation.

The renewed nostalgia coincides with a career-defining year for the actor. Pattinson has enjoyed a strong theatrical run in 2026 with films including Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey’, A24’s ‘Primetime’ and ‘The Drama’.
He’s also set to appear as the villain Scytale in ‘Dune: Part Three’ in December, and he is currently back on set for ‘The Batman Part II’. Some have argued that ‘Twilight’ fans are now watching one of its stars finally receive the industry recognition he deserves.
The enduring appeal of ‘Twilight’ speaks to its unique place in pop culture. The franchise helped kick off the wave of young adult adaptations that dominated the 2010s, and its devoted fanbase played a major role in launching its stars into Hollywood’s top tier.

Generations of viewers have now discovered the story of Bella Swan moving to the rainy town of Forks, Washington, and falling for the mysterious Edward Cullen. With Pattinson now celebrating that legacy instead of shying away from it, the saga’s passionate fans have even more reason to keep the love alive. For a franchise built around immortal vampires, it seems only fitting that ‘Twilight’ refuses to fade away.
