Roblox Mini-Game Movie Adaptation Now in Development

A movie based on the popular Roblox game Grow a Garden is officially in development. Story Kitchen, the studio known for turning hit video games into movies and shows, is teaming up with the game’s creators to bring the project to life.

Grow a Garden has become one of the biggest titles on Roblox since its release earlier this year. The game lets players plant crops, trade goods, and build colorful worlds while working together in community events.

According to the developers, it has been played more than 33 billion times and reached a record-breaking 22.3 million concurrent players in August, beating Fortnite’s all-time high of 15.3 million players. At its peak, the game made up nearly two-thirds of Roblox’s total player count.

Story Kitchen co-founders Dmitri M. Johnson and Michael Lawrence Goldberg said they were drawn to the game’s creativity and positive spirit. “Grow a Garden is exactly the kind of imaginative, heartfelt world we love to adapt — an uplifting story-world rooted in play, creativity, and community,” they shared in a statement.

The upcoming movie is still in early development, and plot details are being kept secret. However, sources say it will be a fun and emotional story about friendship, growth, and the joy of creating something together. The team behind the game is working closely with Story Kitchen to make sure the film captures the same sense of community that made Grow a Garden a hit.
