Byrne joked about the project’s modest production, saying, We shot this movie in 25 days for, like, $8.50. Despite its small budget, the movie has already earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress, following her 2026 Golden Globe win for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy. I’m so proud of this tiny and unbelievable film, she said during her acceptance speech, highlighting how much independent cinema means to her.
Even with her awards success, Byrne is keeping busy. She starred in the drama Tow, directed by Stephanie Laing, where she plays a woman fighting to reclaim her stolen car while living on the edge of homelessness. She is also working on the Peacock series The Good Daughter alongside Meghann Fahy, where she is an executive producer, showing her growing influence behind the camera.
In addition, Byrne is returning to the stage in Fallen Angels at the Todd Haimes Theatre later this year, proving she can move seamlessly between film, TV, and theater.
