DC Studios’ upcoming Supergirl movie is stirring excitement as fans await the first teaser trailer. Feature First reports that they have received what is described as a likely official, though unconfirmed, synopsis for the film.

According to the synopsis, the movie will star Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, also known as Supergirl. “When an unexpected and ruthless enemy threatens, Kara Zor-El is forced, against her will, to team up with an unlikely companion. Together, they embark on an epic cosmic journey where revenge and justice are at stake – and where Kara must confront her origins to find her own path as a hero,” the synopsis says.

Alcock is joined by Matthias Schoenaerts, Eve Ridley, David Krumholtz, Emily Beecham, and Jason Momoa in key roles. The film is produced by Peter Safran and James Gunn for DC Studios.

Supergirl follows Kara Zor-El as she travels across the galaxy on a mission driven by vengeance. This movie is the second film in the newly rebooted DC Universe (DCU). Craig Gillespie directs, and Ana Nogueira wrote the script. Filming took place from January to May in England and Scotland, including at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden and other locations.

The standalone Supergirl project has a long history, first entering development under the DCEU in 2018. The character was introduced in the 2023 film The Flash, played by Sasha Calle.

Plans for the movie were revamped when Gunn and Safran became co-CEOs of DC Studios in 2022. A new film was officially announced in January 2023, adapting the 2021–22 comic book miniseries Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow. Alcock was cast in January 2024, Gillespie came on board in May, and filming soon followed.

Supergirl is set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, and will be part of DCU’s Chapter One: Gods and Monsters.
