Rumors Suggest Mads Mikkelsen in Talks for Doom Role, MCU Not Dropping Kang as the Main Villain

Despite the lackluster MCU releases this year, fans have much to anticipate, particularly the forthcoming ‘Fantastic Four,’ unveiling its cast gradually. With the confirmation of Pedro Pascal as Reed Richards, confidence grows in his capable hands, foreseeing a potential for excellence.
As the fandom adjusts to this news, John Campea disclosed in his recent podcast that Mads Mikkelsen is in talks with Marvel Studios for the role of Dr. Doom—one of the most formidable villains faced by the Fantastic Four and the Avengers, and arguably the most iconic villain in Marvel Comics history.
However, fans find themselves perplexed as Doom’s presence would imply a spotlight as the main antagonist. Numerous stories could potentially evolve into an entire saga solely focused on him. Despite the MCU having its primary villain, the reception wasn’t favorable. Kang the Conqueror’s debut in ‘Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania’ marked the first in a series of flops for the MCU this year, with the movie criticized as “an underwhelming introduction for Thanos’ replacement.”
Although Kang is slated to be the face of evil in the upcoming movies, the poor performance of ‘Quantumania’ and Jonathan Majors’ arrest following the movie’s debut did not sit well with the studio. Rumors grew louder about Kang being replaced or recast, with speculations even suggesting a major overhaul of ‘Kang Dynasty.’
This was all prior to Majors delivering another stellar performance as Victor Timely/He Who Remains in ‘Loki’ Season 2, and at present, the trajectory remains uncertain. However, if we are to trust Daniel Richtman, a trustworthy source for scoops and leaks, the studio persists in the concept of Kang. Despite potential recasting for Kang the Conqueror, the studio is adamant about maintaining him as the primary antagonist for the upcoming movies.
As per Richtman and his insiders, should Dr. Doom make an appearance in ‘Secret Wars,’ he won’t take on the role of the main villain or be the central focus of the movie.
Regardless of your stance on the Majors and Kang situation, it would be imprudent to discard the entire plan, considering that multiple released projects have already laid the groundwork for a multiversal warlord.
