Russo Brothers Tease ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ With Mystery Set Photo – Can You Guess What It Means?
The Russo Brothers are back at it, teasing Marvel fans with a new set photo for Avengers: Doomsday, and the internet is buzzing with theories.
The filmmakers are clearly encouraging viewers to look closely, a tactic they famously used in 2018 after Avengers: Infinity War. Back then, a black-and-white set image led fans to correctly guess the title of the next Avengers film, Endgame.

Now, more than a year before Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters on December 18, 2026, the Russo Brothers have shared another black-and-white photo.
Observant fans noticed that the lights and props in the image seem to form the outline of Doctor Doom’s mask. The arrangement of a tent, poles, and scaffolding appears to spell out “Doom.” This makes sense since Robert Downey Jr. will play the villain in the movie.
Some fans also think the image contains a hidden reference to the Fantastic Four. Shadows and light seem to create a backward “4,” hinting at the team’s symbol.
This fits with previous Marvel films where Doctor Doom was teased in The Fantastic Four: First Steps and appeared in a post-credit scene. Other viewers speculate that the props could spell “AvX,” suggesting that an Avengers versus X-Men storyline could play a big role in the film.

Avengers: Doomsday will be the fifth Avengers movie and the 39th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
The massive cast includes Chris Hemsworth, Vanessa Kirby, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, Wyatt Russell, Tenoch Huerta Mejía, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, Simu Liu, Florence Pugh, Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, Tom Hiddleston, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Alan Cumming, Rebecca Romijn, James Marsden, Channing Tatum, Pedro Pascal, and Robert Downey Jr.
In the story, the Avengers join forces with Wakandans, the Fantastic Four, New Avengers, and the original X-Men team to face Doctor Doom. The film is set fourteen months after the events of Thunderbolts*. Its sequel, Secret Wars, is already scheduled for December 17, 2027.
It’s always exciting when filmmakers leave hidden clues for fans, and the Russo Brothers are masters at this. It’s fun to speculate about the details and try to decode the secrets before the movie even comes out. What do you think these cryptic set photos mean? Share your theories in the comments.
