Ryan Gosling and Flynn Gray Take Flight in ‘Star Wars: Starfighter’ First Look
Fans finally got a first look at Shawn Levy’s new Star Wars movie, Star Wars: Starfighter, thanks to a behind-the-scenes post from the director himself.
Levy shared a photo on Instagram of Ryan Gosling and young actor Flynn Gray on set, writing, “Somewhere in the Mediterranean Sea #Starfighter.”

The film is the next chapter in the Star Wars saga and takes place five years after The Rise of Skywalker. Gosling leads the cast, with Gray playing his nephew.
Amy Adams joins as Gray’s mother, while Mia Goth and Matt Smith are taking on villain roles. The cast also includes Aaron Pierre, Simon Bird, Jamael Westman, and Daniel Ings.
Levy, best known for Deadpool & Wolverine, was first linked to a Star Wars project back in November 2022. The journey to get cameras rolling wasn’t smooth, with the 2023 writers’ strike slowing things down. Writer Jonathan Tropper came on board in July 2024, and by April, the title Star Wars: Starfighter was announced at Star Wars Celebration Japan along with Gosling’s casting.

The movie is being made by Lucasfilm and 21 Laps Entertainment and will be released by Disney. Star Wars: Starfighter is set to hit theaters in the United States on May 28, 2027.
