Sabrina Carpenter Reportedly Set to Land a Major Role For the Future of the MCU

Speculation is making rounds that Sabrina Carpenter could join the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Dazzler, the mutant pop star from the X-Men comics.
According to online scooper MTTSH, Carpenter has met with Marvel Studios to discuss the role of Alison Blaire, though no official casting has been confirmed. While the X-Men reboot is the likely home for Dazzler, other X-Men-related projects are also in early development.
Carpenter, primarily known for her music career, has a solid acting background. She’s appeared in films like The Hate U Give and Clouds, starred in Netflix’s Tall Girl series, and played Cady Heron in Mean Girls on Broadway.
Her experience as both a singer and actress makes her a strong candidate for Dazzler, a character who combines musical talent with mutant powers. In past interviews, Carpenter expressed enthusiasm for action roles, citing her love for Spider-Man films.
The news has sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some had hoped Taylor Swift would take on Dazzler, but Carpenter’s credentials have won over others who see her as a perfect fit. Marvel has not commented on the rumors, and Carpenter has stayed silent about the potential role.
The X-Men reboot itself remains in early stages, with no official title or release date announced. Reports suggest the working title is Chunnel, a temporary placeholder. Jake Schreier, director of Thunderbolts*, is rumored to be directing, with Michael Lesslie writing the script, possibly drawing inspiration from the X-Men ’97 roster.
Other casting rumors include Harris Dickinson as Cyclops, Margaret Qualley as Rogue, Julia Butters as Kitty Pryde, David Jonsson potentially as Jubilee, Colman Domingo as Professor X, and Daisy Edgar-Jones as Jean Grey. Trinity Bliss is also linked to the project, though her role is unclear.
As Marvel quietly builds its X-Men reboot, Carpenter’s possible casting as Dazzler signals exciting developments for the franchise’s future in the MCU.
Carpenter as Dazzler could be a brilliant choice, her pop star energy and acting chops align well with the character. While I understand why some fans wanted Swift, Carpenter’s youth and versatility might better suit Marvel’s long-term plans.
The X-Men reboot sounds promising with such a diverse cast in the rumor mill, but I hope Marvel nails the script to honor the team’s legacy. What do you think about Carpenter as Dazzler and the X-Men reboot? Share your thoughts in the comments below!
