Sam Raimi had big success with the ‘Spider-Man’ movies, each earning over $800 million worldwide. But plans for more films fell apart due to script problems. Raimi was disappointed, especially with ‘Spider-Man 3,’ and wanted to make up for it with ‘Spider-Man 4,’ but it never happened. In 2022, he wished he had ended the series on a better note.

However, Raimi stayed connected to Spider-Man. He and Marc Webb advised on Marvel Studios’ ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home.’ Recently, rumors suggested Raimi might direct a sequel to ‘Spider-Man 3’ with Tobey Maguire. In a recent interview with CBR, Raimi talked about those rumors.

Well, I haven’t heard about that yet. I did read that, but I’m not actually working on it yet. I mean, Marvel and Columbia are so successful with current Spider-Man [movies], and the track there, and I don’t know that they’re going to go back to me, and say, ‘Well, folks, we can also tell that story! I’m not sure, but I love all the new Spider-Man movies. I loved Spider-Man: No Way Home. It was really, super powerful seeing Tobey [Maguire] again in it.

Raimi mentioned that he has a good relationship with Marvel Studios because they worked together.

I haven’t talked to Tobey about it, but maybe Marvel has, or Columbia Pictures. But, I just worked with Marvel on a movie called Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. So, I’m on great terms with them. I’m sure I would hear about it if it was in the works. I think so. I don’t know.

After his appearance in ‘No Way Home’, fans have been eager for Tobey Maguire to return as Spider-Man. Rumors of a new ‘Spider-Man’ movie gained traction, sparked in part by revelations from the book ‘MCU: The Reign of Marvel Studios’. This book delves into the making of ‘Spider-Man 4’, disclosing casting plans like John Malkovich as Vulture and Angelina Jolie as Vulturess. Anne Hathaway was also considered for Felicia Hardy, aka Black Cat. However, the project reportedly stalled as Sam Raimi expressed concerns over its profitability, estimating the cost to exceed $400 million. Share your thoughts in the comments below!
