Sarah Paulson is getting back together with Ryan Murphy, and this time it’s for the Netflix series “Monster.” According to Variety, Paulson is close to finalizing a deal to join the fourth season of the show, where she would play the famous serial killer Aileen Wuornos.

The new season will mainly focus on Lizzie Borden, who was accused of killing her father and stepmother with an axe.

Filming is already happening in Los Angeles. Even though Wuornos isn’t the main focus, it looks like the season will show how Borden’s story connects to other female killers and how these women have shaped the public’s view of crime and fame. Season 3 did something similar by showing how the crimes of Ed Gein influenced popular culture.

Ella Beatty will take on the role of Lizzie Borden, according to the report, while Charlie Hunnam, who played Ed Gein in Season 3, will now play Lizzie’s father, Andrew Jackson Borden. Rebecca Hall will appear as Abby Borden, Lizzie’s stepmother, and Billie Lourd will play Lizzie’s sister, Emma. Jessica Barden will portray actress Nance O’Neill, Lizzie’s friend, and Vicky Krieps will play Bridget Sullivan, the family’s maid.

Aileen Wuornos was convicted of killing seven men in Florida and was executed in 2002. Her life and crimes have been retold many times through movies and documentaries. Charlize Theron won an Oscar for playing her in the 2003 movie “Monster.” Over the years, other actresses such as Peyton List, Jean Smart, and Lily Rabe have also taken on the role. Rabe’s version of Wuornos appeared in the fifth season of Murphy’s “American Horror Story.”

Paulson and Murphy have a long history of working together. Paulson has appeared in nearly every season of “American Horror Story” and earned five Emmy nominations for her performances. Just last week, it was revealed that she’s returning to the show for its upcoming 13th season.
