Scarlett Johansson may be joining DC’s world soon. Several industry sources say she is close to making a deal to appear in The Batman Part II, the follow-up to Matt Reeves’ 2021 movie.

The project has been in development for a long time, and adding Johansson would give it a strong push as it prepares to start filming next year. Before she begins work on the film, she is expected to finish shooting The Exorcist, which she recently signed on for.

People familiar with the talks say Johansson is being considered for the role of Andrea Beaumont.

Fans of Batman may know the character from animated projects, where she was introduced as someone who once shared a personal past with Bruce Wayne. She later appeared in other animated stories and eventually made her way into the main DC comic line a few years ago.

Johansson has been one of the most successful actors in major franchises. Her run as Black Widow helped make her a box-office draw, and she has kept a busy schedule with films like Jurassic World: Rebirth. She also directed her first feature, Eleanor the Great, which came out recently. Johansson’s involvement was first reported by Nexus Point News.

The Batman Part II is planned to hit theaters in October 2027. Matt Reeves is returning to direct and help write the script. Robert Pattinson will once again play Batman, with Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis and Colin Farrell also set to return. The movie will continue exploring Gotham after the events of the first film. Production is expected to begin in 2026 in several locations in the United Kingdom.
