Scarlett Johansson made a big impression at the Seoul premiere of Jurassic World: A New Beginning, stepping out in a white dress that turned heads. The event was held at the Four Seasons Hotel on July 1, just one day before the movie’s official release in Korea on July 2. Universal Pictures is releasing the film, and it’s being called one of this summer’s major releases.

This new Jurassic movie, directed by Gareth Edwards and written by David Koepp, tells a different kind of story. Scarlett Johansson plays a character named Zora, who teams up with Dr. Henry, played by Jonathan Bailey. Together, they go to a dangerous island, once home to the original Jurassic Park’s secret labs. Their goal is to uncover hidden truths and help save humanity, all while dodging deadly dinosaurs.

For the first time in the franchise’s history, the director and lead cast visited Korea together to promote the movie. Scarlett Johansson, Jonathan Bailey, Rupert Friend, and director Gareth Edwards all showed up for the premiere and press event.

At the press conference, Scarlett talked about how happy she was to be back in Korea. “I’m so thrilled to be in Korea. I’m happy to be back. I wish I had more time,” she said. She also shared that she spent her morning shopping in Myeongdong and had an interesting breakfast. “I think I had seven kinds of kimchi for breakfast,” she added with a smile. “Korean fans always give so much hospitality, so I’m really looking forward to meeting them.”

She also spoke about the challenges of filming, especially when it came to acting without any real dinosaurs on set. “The most difficult part was that we couldn’t actually see the dinosaurs; instead, we had to act as if we were looking at a tennis ball on a stick,” she explained. She said the action scenes were intense and that it was hard to go from calm to terrified over and over again between takes. Still, she said it helped to have great co-stars. “Trusting and relying on my co-actors is really important. We were lucky that it turned out well.”

Scarlett also opened up about how much this role meant to her. “I feel really lucky. After reading the script that the director wrote, I understood it, and I consider it a great honor to be part of the Jurassic universe.” She said she didn’t expect the creative team to be so open to her ideas, but they were. “I hoped that the character Zora would feel vividly human. I didn’t expect that they would have open discussions about the character, but the production team frequently asked for my opinions.”

She explained that her feedback was actually used in the updated script. “A few weeks later, David gave me a revised script that reflected everyone’s opinions. They listened to my opinions and respected them,” she said. “I can hardly believe that I influenced something like this, and I’m still trying to process it. My childhood dream has become a reality.”

While fans are excited about the release, the movie is already getting some mixed reactions. According to Rotten Tomatoes, Jurassic World: A New Beginning is sitting at 54% based on 99 critic reviews. That’s not a great sign for a franchise that has always had high expectations.

Still, the excitement around Scarlett Johansson and the film’s big moments in Seoul have made headlines. Whether or not the movie wins over audiences worldwide remains to be seen.
