Scarlett Johansson’s Potential Batman 2 Role Reportedly Connected to an Iconic DC Villain
A new report claims the actress is set to join The Batman – Part II. The role is said to be closely linked to one of DC’s most important villains. The sequel continues the world first introduced in 2022 and is now moving forward after a long development period.
According to The InSneider, Johansson is reportedly being eyed to play Gilda Gold. In DC lore, Gilda is known as the wife of Harvey Dent, the man who later becomes Two-Face. Her presence suggests that Harvey Dent will finally appear in Matt Reeves’ Batman universe.
The report also says the film is casting both Harvey Dent and his father, Christopher Dent. At one point, director Matt Reeves was rumored to be interested in Brad Pitt for the role of Christopher. That idea now appears to be off the table.

The Hollywood Reporter shut down the Pitt rumors in a recent update, saying:
“Is Brad Pitt in The Batman Part II? This one has been in the ether for months, and we looked into it. Sadly, sources close to the production say no, Pitt will not be in the movie.”
The same report notes that the sequel is aiming to begin filming in May. Reeves is returning as director and co-writer, once again working with Mattson Tomlin. Robert Pattinson is expected back as Bruce Wayne, alongside Jeffrey Wright, Andy Serkis, and Colin Farrell.
The Batman – Part II is scheduled to hit theaters on October 1, 2027. The story will reportedly focus on another major case for Batman while digging deeper into Gotham’s corruption after the citywide flooding seen in the first film and The Penguin series. Filming is expected to take place in England and Scotland.
Johansson is said to have entered talks for the project in December, though DC has not officially confirmed her casting yet.
