The series mixed comedy with emotional moments and focused on life inside the hospital and the relationships between staff and patients. NBC ran the show for seven seasons before canceling it in 2008. ABC then continued the series with an eighth season in 2009 and later released a ninth season in 2010. That final season was first planned as a spinoff called Scrubs: Medical School and featured Donald Faison and John C. McGinley as regular cast members before the show ended.
The new revival will introduce several fresh faces, including Vanessa Bayer, Joel Kim Booster, Ava Bunn, Jacob Dudman, David Gridley, Layla Mohammadi and Amanda Morrow. Robert Maschio and Phill Lewis will also return from the original cast.
The revival is led by showrunners Tim Hobert and Aseem Batra, who both worked on the original series. Executive producers include Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke and creator Bill Lawrence, along with Randall Winston, Jeff Ingold and Liza Katzer. The show is produced by 20th Television.
According to ABC, the series will premiere on February 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Episodes will also be available to stream on Hulu.
