Fans of 1923 can rest easy—Sebastian Roché says the upcoming season will not disappoint!

IRoché, who plays Father Renaud in the hit Yellowstone prequel, shared that season 2 will be full of powerful journeys that will change the characters forever.

For me, season 2 is a season about journeys. All the characters go on a journey and yeah, it’s very satisfactory,” Roché, 60, said.

He explained that while season 1 focused on introducing the characters, this time, every character will go on both a physical and emotional journey. “And these journeys are going to change these people forever.”

Roché also opened up about his own character’s growth in the new season. He described Father Renaud’s story as “a great adventure” and welcomed the character’s transformation.

What I loved about my character is how complex my journey—how transformational Father Renaud’s journey is—as he stumbles along in his quest to find this girl. What does she represent? It’s a real transformational journey for him.”

While he couldn’t give away too many details, Roché admitted the season’s ending left him emotional. “I had tears in my eyes,” he revealed, adding that creator Taylor Sheridan has a romantic touch to his writing.

A longtime fan of Sheridan’s work, Roché said working on 1923 felt like a dream come true.“He’s a brilliant dialogist—I don’t know if you can say that. That’s a Frenchism. And his dialogues are second to none,” he said.

Roché also praised Sheridan’s storytelling, saying, “His character building is truly exceptional.”
